Developers in the GitHub Stars programme can apply for developer support benefits from tooling specialist JetBrains, according to JetBrains’ Marina Sergienko.
“Our own Developer Recognition Programme supports and encourages developers to advocate for technology and innovation,” she wrote via the JetBrains blog.
Some 100 million developers use GitHub to collaborate on coding projects, she said. However, only a few devs on the platform have GitHub Star status.
These represented “a few exceptional talents and technical experts who go above and beyond”, according to Sergienko.
“GitHub empowers the most influential developers and gives them a platform to showcase their work, reach more people, lead by example, and help others improve their skills.”
JetBrains had also worked to support Google Developer Experts, Microsoft MVPs, Java Champions, Docker Captains, Nx Champions, and others, she added.
Plugin developer support event early November
Additionally, JetBrains has announced a plugin developer conference for November.
According to JetBrains’ Elena Kerpeleva, the JetBrains Plugin Developer Conference 2024 will be on 7 November. The virtual event focuses on developing JetBrains plugins.
It would be a “full day of engaging sessions and insightful discussions” for developer support, she said.
Discussions would revolve around JetBrains Marketplace and plugin localisation. Additionally, it would cover user feedback, testing and more.
Presentations would stream live on YouTube. Also, sessions would be available afterwards on demand, Kerpeleva said.
JetBrains offers an evolving array of developer support applications, including collaborative and quality assurance tools like TeamCity, YouTrack, Qodana, and Datalore.
