Automox unveils policy-results reports for fast endpoint insights

Endpoint management specialist Automox has whipped the covers off policy results reporting functionality with the ability to view results up to 400 days beforehand.

In a customer newsletter, Automox’s marketing team noted that IT teams often need to demonstrate results from their IT estate quickly and with little notice to managers or auditors.

“That’s why we just launched our new policy results report with a 400-day look-back,” they said in the newsletter.

“You can now see historical results for patching, endpoint automation, and software distribution in seconds and quickly identify and resolve issues that caused failed patching or configuration.”

Automox details the release on its help-focused web pages, here.

The policy results report feature lets users see their historical data for policy runs in a zone, giving the success rates and an understanding of which devices had failures. The reports are accessible via the main Automox console, the vendor said.

“The policy results report lists the results for the last 400 days for all policy types – patch policies, required software policies, and worklets. Results are shown in a table with status bars,” the vendor said.

Historical data is exportable as .CSV, and searchable with various filters, by description, action, columns and policy action options, according to Automox, with “at a glance” visualisations available.

“The collection of data is ongoing and when we reach 400 days, the oldest date is replaced with new data every 24 hours,” the vendor noted. “It is not possible to select more than 100 days at a time.”

Automox said current policy names are shown, including historical information for a policy even if later renamed and policy deletions indicated. Failures are pinpointed and evaluated with remediation suggested where needed, it said.

“When reporting isn’t accurate, detailed, or timely, the results can lead to erroneous decisions and misguided strategies,” the vendor noted.

“Inaccurate information causes anxiety for IT teams and the lack of access to comprehensive reporting can send them into a tail spin – especially when they must manually compile, organise, and prioritise data across multiple sources.”
