Cybersecurity software provider Malwarebytes has extended its award-winning endpoint protection to organisations’ mobile devices.
Mark Strassman, chief product officer at Malwarebytes, said IT teams were still grappling with monitoring and protecting a surging number of unprotected network endpoints.
“We designed our mobile security solution for organisations that don’t have armies of security analysts,” Strassman said, commenting on the announcement.
He said that companies need to be confident that any mobile devices connecting to their networks are protected. The offering is also suited to helping defend the “digital learning experiences” of students as well as worker productivity in a digitised, hybrid or mobile workplace.
Malwarebytes Mobile Security for Business targets resource-constrained IT teams that need to centrally secure mobile devices connecting to their networks, the company said.
The offering will become “generally available” on 6 February 2023, it added.
According to Malwarebytes, perhaps one in four mobile apps contains at least one high-risk security flaw, and traditional endpoint protection typically focuses on servers, desktops and — beyond laptops — can exclude other mobile devices beyond corporate firewalls.
“IT administrators are facing a rapidly growing security threat as mobile device usage increases in academic and business environments,” the company said.
A January 2023 Malwarebytes industry pulse check suggested that 62% of school IT professionals feel employee devices could be their riskiest attack surface in 2023, with only a third confident in their ability to secure such devices.
Malwarebytes Mobile Security for Business helps IT teams manage protection across Chrome OS, Android and iOS devices from the same cloud-native console monitoring their servers and workstations.
It aims to guard against mobile threats such as ransomware, malicious apps, and more, the vendor said.
