SolarWinds launches South Korea operation with new country manager

IT management software firm SolarWinds has announced the country manager who will spearhead the launch of its new South Korean organisation.

Joe Signorelli, director of Japan and Korea sales at SolarWinds, said that Ken Parker would take the reins of the Seoul-based entity with a view to strengthening the company’s international footprint through strategic investment and channel partnerships.

“We believe [Parker’s] enthusiasm and extensive industry experience will help us grow our existing sales team, focus on strategic alliances, and expand our channel business in the region,” Signorelli said in the investor announcement.

Parker was previously country manager for Korea at US IT management firm Ivanti, and has also worked for NetApp, Acopia Networks and Pulse Secure.

SolarWinds works with resellers, distributors, service providers, and system integrators to partner on sales of its IT management applications, typically aimed at IT professionals managing corporate and hybrid IT.

According to SolarWinds, there could be a gap between nontechnical skills and the more traditional technical certifications and experience required by IT companies.

In August the vendor polled its THWACK user community of 150,000 registered members, fielding 287 responses from different countries, from IT generalists to software engineers, developers, security professionals, and data professionals.

“Experiences at home or in general daily life are perceived as most useful at work: time management (prioritisation, organisation); communication skills (verbal and nonverbal); interpersonal skills (adaptability, flexibility, patience); and problem-solving,” the vendor reported.

Security, troubleshooting, and network management were the top technical skills they told the vendor they needed, with cyberthreat, employee burnout and unmanageable workloads/skill gaps expected to remain key issues for the coming year.
