Hitachi Security Business Group has inked a channel partner deal with South Africa’s iPulse Systems to distribute Hitachi’s VeinID biometrics kit across Africa.
Gary Chalmers, chief executive officer of iPulse Systems, said Hitachi’s VeinID portfolio was a “natural fit” for its strong presence and long history in African markets.
“Our entire team is excited about the prospects this incredible technology brings to the party, and are looking forward to not only working with resellers and partners throughout the region but building it into our own client platforms as well,” Chalmers said in the official release.
iPulse is based in Randburg, on the north side of Johannesburg, and specialises in cloud biometrics, access controls and identification, with customers from the United Nations, McDonalds, mining giants and high-security installations in locations including prisons and datacentres.
According to Hitachi Europe, iPulse will distribute and resell all Hitachi’s current range and future “exciting solutions” to be launched in coming months.
This will include both Hitachi Finger Vein readers as well as VeinID Five, which allows users to be identified, without contact, simply by raising their hand for the veins to be scanned by a standard laptop or desktop camera.
Ravi Ahluwalia, general manager of Hitachi Europe’s Security Business, said: “iPulse have the knowledge and skills to support that [arrangement].”
