Opswat users must switch to new APIs for MetaDefender Cloud rescans from next month, with changes scheduled to take place from 15 April.
The cybersecurity vendor says its MetaDefender Cloud Rescan API is being officially deprecated, with a new API scheduled to be made available.
“Users are requested to stop using the rescan API as soon as possible,” writes Opswat’s Petru Isfan in the official notice.
MetaDefender Cloud stores files so that customers can request a refresh of the scan results, whether it is multiscanning or sandbox analysis scan results. The move will affect single rescans of files, bulk rescans and sandbox rescans.
According to Isfan, MetaDefender Cloud is changing the way it stores files — which also means that not every file will be accessible for rescans in the future.
“We are working on a new API that allows users to request scheduled rescans,” he says. “An announcement will be made on our blog once the periodic rescan API is available.”
Opswat metascans are able to protect users against dangerous malware including Emotet, a self-propagating banking trojan that has targeted valuable and sensitive data theft from banking, e-commerce, healthcare, public sector and tech organisations.
The cybersecurity vendor has been working to expand its channel programme worldwide, aiming its eight MetaDefender and MetaAccess platform offerings at VARs, MSPs, integrators and security resellers looking to expand their cyberprotection portfolios.
Alessandro Porro, vice president of global channels at Opswat, says the company grew channel partner coverage 25% last quarter — and is seeking to expand coverage by another 50% this year.
“The true testament for our growth is not only the demand for our solutions, but the increased investment in new tools, joint marketing programs, specialised training courses, and a global team of account managers and support professionals to help quickly onboard new partners and expand business for existing partners,” Porro says.
