Securing files and data across hundreds of insurance offices with OPSWAT

OPSWAT has been mitigating the risk of data leakage and malware for one of the largest insurance brokerage firms in the world, based in the USA. The unnamed firm manages almost $16 billion in risk premiums.

According to OPSWAT, infected files are regularly received by the firm, sent by customers, claimants, agents and others. Its computer systems, incorporating data and transactions from thousands of professionals in hundreds of offices, are continually at risk.

In addition, the firm requires a strong solution to malware, to reduce costs while complying with US government requirements, such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB) Act, the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act, and the Federal Insurance Security Management Act (FISMA).

The solution? Metascan (now MetaDefender) was selected by the brokerage firm as the most effective way to detect and prevent viruses, worms, Trojans and other malware from entering their information network. As a multi-scanning engine with eight built-in antivirus engines, Metascan is used to thoroughly scan files for malware before those files are accepted by the firm.

“This customer has not experienced a single malware-related problem from electronically received files and records since Metascan was deployed,” according to OPSWAT.
