Making charts and collaborative work management in Smartsheet is getting extra AI enablement this year.
Accordingly, the platform will offer “AI-powered chart creations, customisable conversation filters, more sophisticated data analysis tools, an enhanced file library, and a new integrations panel”.
“AI is already embedded, helping visualise data, generate complex formulas, save time with summarisation and text generation, and get on-the-spot answers to questions,” Smartsheet VP Miya McClain said.
The new functionality meant teams would be able to tackle “any work management problem without needing to be an expert”.
“Instead of getting bogged down, you can drive impact and make faster decisions with greater accuracy,” she said.
The platform already integrates with common tools such as customer relationship management (CRM) software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications.
Smartsheet also partners the likes of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
McClain in a February Tech Talks Daily podcast said embedded AI helps tackle challenges such as the need to manage lots of data. This is about “enhancing” human decisions.
Leading the growing work management space
Smartsheet has been a leader in Gartner’s collaborative work management (CWM) Magic Quadrant since 2023. In 2024, it ranks alongside Airtable, Asana, Monday.com and Wrike.
“The CWM market is expanding at an estimated rate of 16%,” a related article in UC Today said.
Task-oriented platforms that enable users to plan, coordinate, and automate their activities go beyond “traditional” project management, it said.
New capabilities include in-context collaborative team spaces, automation of repetitive processes, advances in reporting and dashboards, collaborative content editing, and AI assistance.
“[Smartsheet] applications include project and portfolio management, strategic transformations, service delivery, and managing marketing and content workflows,” the articles said.
“Notable features include versatile work management tools, integrated advanced proofing capabilities, and automation rule support.”
