Microsoft 365 (M365) security from Hornetsecurity has bolstered its M365 Total Backup and support with self-service and capability for OneNote backup and recovery.
Additionally, it’s available for users on 365 Total Protection plans 3 and 4, the vendor said.
Daniel Hofmann, chief executive of Hornetsecurity, said users can now self-service and directly access backup data from Mailbox, OneDrive and OneNote.
“Handling restore requests for end users is a time-intensive task for admins. This update frees them for more mission-critical tasks while empowering end users,” Hofmann said.
Previously, users were forced to rely on authorised administrators whenever they needed to restore their data. Now they can do so simply, through the Hornetsecurity User Panel, the vendor said.
End users can recover selected objects or data from mailboxes, OneDrive accounts and OneNote accounts. According to Hornetsecurity, this data is searchable and the process is simple for non-IT professionals.
Consequently, Hornetsecurity partners and customers can back up OneNote notebooks automatically without “manual data protection methods”.
“This adds another layer of data protection to organisations,” the vendor said.
Backup and recovery capabilities in 365 Total Backup and 365 Total Protection work with Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online, and Teams, it added.

Meanwhile, Hornetsecurity continually evolves its offerings for easing data security admin, Hofmann said.
The free update follows the addition of backup and recovery for Microsoft Planner, and the launch of DMARC Manager for domain-based message authentication reporting and conformance (DMARC) policies for multi-domain email configurations.
“DMARC Manager is included as part of Hornetsecurity’s 365 Total Protection and is also available as an add-on to its spam and malware protection service,” the vendor said.
