Increasing cloud revenues may pay dividends for information management software vendor OpenText.
Mark J. Barrenechea, chief executive officer at OpenText, said the gains were against a backdrop of $1.27 billion (£1bn) in total revenues.
While that represented a Q1 2025 decline, it was the company’s “15th consecutive quarter of organic cloud revenue growth.”
Cloud revenues of $457 million were up 1.3% year on year. In addition. quarterly enterprise cloud bookings rose 10.3% year on year to $133 million.
Barrenechea said OpenText continues to invest in its information management portfolio, including business clouds, business AI and business technology including cybersecurity.
Increasing cloud revenues followed with new deal
Additionally, a new partnership will see Secure Code Warrior’s dynamic learning platform integrated into the OpenText Fortify application security suite.
Muhi Majzoub, executive vice president and chief product officer at OpenText, said the partnership is about helping developers improve their coding skills for more secure applications.
“Securing code is essential for protecting the organisation, its customers, and partners,” Majzoub said.
Consequently, the tie-up with Secure Code Warrior would address human risk factors around software development. Human mistakes can cause bad code, causing problems over time.
Pieter Danhieux, chief executive and co-founder at Secure Code Warrior, said: “In our new era of AI-written code, software engineers need critical-thinking skills to spot insecure and secure coding patterns.”
With the Secure Code Warrior platform, they’d remediate vulnerabilities and address issues faster. Partly, this is about supporting better devsecops and security by design.
“Our customers see a 53% vulnerability reduction and 2x faster remediation with their developers,” Danhieux said.
OpenText’s Cybersecurity’s 2024 Global Ransomware Survey found that 62% of ransomware victims traced the attack to a software partner.
