Nitro eSign teams up with Itsme for Irish digital IDs

PDF and e-signatures company Nitro has partnered with Belgian digital ID specialist Itsme in the Irish market to boost Nitro eSign.

Magali Biron, eSign business development vice president at Nitro, said the tie-up delivers cost-effective yet secure e-signatures.

“Our extended partnership brings seamless eSign solutions to the Irish market with security, compliance, and ease of use,” Biron said in the announcement.

According to Nitro, integrating Nitro and Itsme in qualified electronic signatures (QES) technology attracted “countless customers” in regulated Benelux industries.

Benefits

Nitro e-signature software and the Itsme digital identity solution meant companies could improve document management. There are also benefits for security and workflows, it said.

“QES ensures every signature is verified and legally binding to EU Electronic Identification, Authentication, and Trust Services standards (eIDAS),” according to Nitro.

The verification process includes layers of identity authentication and secure certificate issuance. This reduces risks around unauthorised access and forgery of signatures. QES incorporates advanced cryptography to protect signed documents, it said.

QES verifies a signer’s identity using qualified trust service provider (QTSP) certification. It differs from simple electronic signature (SES) or advanced electronic signature (AES) technology.

Koen Dolfen, chief revenue office at Itsme, said the idea is to provide a user-friendly, secure digital solution for easy-access QES.

This would also help organisations comply with future regulations, he said.

How it works

Itsme has been integrated with Nitro Sign Premium. Signers can select Itsme as a preferred verification method, the vendor said.

“Once the document to be signed is uploaded, an email is sent to the recipient, who then chooses Itsme to verify their identity and validate the qualified signing process,” the vendor said.

Nitro added that its PDF editing, e-signatures and analytics boast about three million licensed users. It has 13,000 business customers in 157 countries, including in the Fortune 500.

Itsme is used by seven million across 14 European countries. Itsme meets standards such as PSD2, FATF, GDPR, and ISO27001.
