Inclusive learning focused vendor TextHelp has received a TrustRadius 2024 TopRated Award in five categories for its Read&Write literacy and writing tool.
According to the vendor, Read&Write was recognised in five categories – writing and proofreading tools, K-12 online learning, online proofing, text to speech, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
“With a TrustRadius score of 9.6 out of 10, we’re proud to see that Read&Write is empowering schools, districts, employers and employees worldwide,” the vendor said, adding that more inclusive technologies can help learners, educators and professionals.
“Read&Write is consistently praised for its ability to empower users of all abilities to understand and be understood.”
TextHelp’s Read&Write is aimed at helping people both understand textual content and express themselves with text, via assistance with tasks such as reading text out loud, understanding unfamiliar words, researching assignments and proofing written work for mistakes, the vendor said.
July saw several updates to Read&Write for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
In the related announcement, TextHelp said that it would benefit from the addition of features from Snap&Read and Co:Writer for Chrome and Edge, including Co:Writer Prediction for more accurate word prediction based on how ideas and concepts are related in the human brain.
“The feature includes a simple-to-use word prediction engine specifically designed to free up ideas so they more naturally flow into writing, helping overcome writer’s block, word recall issues, and other barriers to writing,” the vendor said.
“Co:Writer prediction also makes it easier to insert words from the prediction list into your document. Just type the number next to it – no more keyboard shortcuts required.”
Co:Writer prediction replaces the previous Read&Write prediction functionality, it said.
Another new feature is Topics, which groups lists of words together by content areas that can be activated or deactivated. The idea is to help people write about topics with complex specific vocabulary.
“This means no more getting tripped up by hard-to-spell vocabulary. Instead, users can focus on writing for meaning and to express their knowledge and expertise,” said TextHelp.
Read&Write is also getting different ‘modes’ to support different learning preferences, including horizontal and vertical layouts.
More enhancements to help neurodiverse employees and build more inclusive workplaces, and struggling or multi-lingual learners, as well as more personalisation and customisation, are in the works, according to TextHelp, which also offers maths-focused tools such as Equatio as well as other accessibility offerings such as OrbitNote, ClaroRead and, for the workplace, ReachDeck.
