PDF editing software vendor Foxit has expanded its generative-AI integration for PDF as well as announcing a new software licensing agreement and deal with Dell Technologies.
Phil Lee, chief commercial officer at Foxit Software, said the moves marked a milestone for its PDF document management offering, coupling Foxit PDF Editor and Foxit PDF Editor Pro with its ChatGPT-powered AI Assistant.
“The integration of ChatGPT provides intelligent automation and enhances the user experience by enabling intelligent interactions for tasks such as redaction, document annotation and form filling,” according to the vendor announcement.
Additionally, Dell commercial and consumer PC customers would access advanced features of Foxit PDF Editor and Editor Pro with AI Assistant solutions, Foxit said.
Customers could use intelligent automation, natural language processing and advanced document management to streamline workflows and “unlock the full potential” of customer PDFs, it added.
“Users can interact with PDFs more intuitively and efficiently, enabling intelligent interactions for tasks such as redaction, document annotation and form filling,” the vendor said.
Foxit announced its AI-powered Smart Redact with encryption back in April 2022, aimed at helping users detect and redact sensitive or confidential information in PDF files.
Foxit PDF Editor Pro+ added AI integration last year.
“At Foxit, we’re focused on applying the most cutting-edge technology into our products,” Lee said in the April 2023 announcement.
“With the integration of ChatGPT services in PDF Editor Pro+, we are offering an unparalleled level of productivity and efficiency to our users. Soon, Foxit will expand the AI capabilities to broader product lines.”
Its ChatGPT integrations can provide document summaries based on analysis of text inputs and machine learning (ML) document ‘rewrites’ as well as chatbot functionality, in addition to other features such as Smart Redact, it said at the time of the announcement.
