Smartsheet has unveiled the next generation of its enterprise-grade platform for flexible modern work management, boasting AI-powered scalability, resource management and project handling.
Mark Mader, chief executive of Smartsheet, said the vendor is investing in its platform to meet advancing customer requirements with new and improved feature sets as well as further building out its generative-AI capabilities.
“Business is being disrupted and companies are looking for a platform that will revolutionise how they work and innovate at scale,” Mader said in the announcement.
Smartsheet product capabilities revealed at its Engage annual forum were set to “unlock sophisticated solution building, AI-driven data insights, and massive scale”, according to the announcement.
Customers running marketing programmes with thousands of simultaneous projects to manage and organisations in acquisition mode or otherwise expanding could benefit from being able to take on more complex, critical workloads, it said.
“Customers can now run more projects consistently, at scale, and with ease. By January, Smartsheet Control Center will support 20,000 active projects per business programme, a 20-times year over year increase,” it said.
In 2024, every sheet will also support five million cells and allow five million sheet links per sheet, an increase of 250x above current levels, the company added.
Additionally, new views organise data into visual groups, such as by assignee or status, or highlight important dates. The new version also has themed dashboards, redesigned widgets and canvases, and simpler grid and card views refreshed with collaboration in mind, it said.
Smartsheet will also release dashboard snapshots allowing customers to schedule regular, automatic delivery of any dashboard, and all customers on Business and Enterprise plans will soon have access to two new project sheet features – Workload Heatmap and Workload Schedule for identifying who is working on what, address over-allocations, and the like.
And Enterprise plan customers can now purchase Smartsheet Safeguard, a collection of the platform’s most advanced security and governance controls – such as customer managed encryption keys, data egress policies, event reporting, data retention controls, and more, the vendor said.
Ben Canning, senior vice president of product experiences at Smartsheet, said: “Every team needs three interconnected dimensions to accomplish something great: how you manage work, the people doing the work, and the content they’re creating.”
